Ageless Fed back in groove!

Roger Federer came through his first match as a 30-year-old, defeating Canadian wildcard Vasek Pospisil 7-5 6-3 in the second round of the Rogers Cup.

It was business as usual for the former world number one, who showed little sign of rustiness despite playing for the first time since late June when he lost in the Wimbledon quarter-finals to Jo-Wilfried Tsonga.

He needed 49 minutes to get on top of Pospisil in the opening set, but moved up a gear in the second to canter to victory and book a rematch with 13th seeded Tsonga, who beat Australian wild card Bernard Tomic 6-3 7-6.

"It was my first match outdoors on hard courts...it was a bit tough," said Federer,http://static.lingospot.com/spot/image/spacer.gif who only required a modest four aces and two breaks and was never under pressure on his own serve against his 155th-ranked opponent.

"I believe I didn't play so well, wasn't aggressive enough but also I must say he didn't give me the opportunity."
